What is a Doula?

A doula is a trained professional who provides continuous emotional, physical, and informational support during your pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period. They offer guidance, comfort, and advocacy to help you have a positive birth experience and a smooth transition into parenthood. Doulas are the calming presence in the storm and offer that reassurance that you are fully prepared and capable for this moment.

FAQ's

While a doula cannot change your health circumstances, I am here to offer emotional and physical support while also providing comfort during stressful challenges that a high-risk pregnancy may come with.

My job as your doula is to show you support in all the decisions you make in regards to your birth, and that includes whether you get an epidural or not. Before the epidural, there are sensations that I will help you work through to keep you as comfortable as possible. The epidural may not take away all the discomforts childbirth may bring, and I will be there to support you through that.

You can never experience too much support too early. I begin working with most of my clients in the second trimester, but have also had clients prep earlier for their births. It Is all dependent on what feels best for you.

Not at all. I am here to support both you and your partner during this journey. Your partner and I will collaborate as a team to make the best of your birth experience.

Absolutely! Postpartum can be such an overwhelming time and I will be here to support you. I will visit you postnatally to see how you and your baby are doing and help you process your birth.

Yes. Navigating finances during this new era can be stressful, however it’s a great opportunity to reach out to family/friends for that extra support they are wanting to give! Add it to your registry or accept donations towards your birth fund. This represents the ultimate investment in both your family and yourself, empowering you to take control of your birthing journey.
